Contrary to the first reviewer of this product, I actually believe THIS product and not the previous generation. I'll preserve it short and sweet.

I bought this the day it was released and have had it now for about 5 days. In that time I've upgraded the RAM to the max 2GB, removed the few bloatware programs, installed a pudgy version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007, and upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. If you want very detailed reviews of this netbook, read the reviews for the 1005HA PU17-BU, it's the steady same one only in blue instead of unlit.

The only comments I'll produce is that it is everything I expected and was looking for, and then some. I didn't like the Windows 7 Starter, it had a few limitations that I didn't like and I had purchased the Windows 7 Home Premium Family Upgrade and had one of my 3 allowed licenses unused. I did the Anytime Upgrade and it took all of 10 minutes, I didn't lose any data, and it works tall.

The only glitch I've had so far was when I tried running Windows Update. Every time I started it, my Netgear WGT624v2 wireless router would lock up. With some encourage from the Netgear Tech Back Forum that jam was snappily fixed. Router's fault, not the netbooks.

As mentioned, apart from the first review listed here by someone who doesn't even acquire this product, glorious worthy everything you read about this netbook is true: big performance, extraordinary battery life, easy to expend keyboard, nice indicate, fingerprint magnet surface. I did months of research and everything pointed to this one (actually, the pre-Win 7 version and this one fair improves on that) .

If you are looking for the best netbook on the market, regardless of stamp, peruse no further.

For those who are wondering, you can change the wallpaper. You'll have to install System Setting Utility from ASUS which can also be passe to change wallpaper at timed intervals automatically.

Despite what the other reviewer claims, in the destroy he reviewed the dismal product. Even though it is similar, it is not the same. There is definitely hardware changes to the Windows 7 version.

I really like this netbook pc. I wanted something minute enough to be able expend it like the larger leg warmers and not have to feel like I'm lugging a brick around all the time. This fit the bill perfectly. The sleeve that came with this looks to be proper quality and well padded, I wouldn't exhaust the extra money on another one. I might upgrade the memory, but at the moment it seems sufficient enough for what I need.

The netbook uses the GMA950 integrated graphic chip. You can overclock these with the GMA Booster to 400MHz. I also read the netbook is stable if overclock to 1.9GHz, but I haven't tried it. The Eee Spruce Hybrid Engine which controls the preset power modes do adjust CPU clock speeds depending on mode. If you idea on upgrading memory, I suggest you utilize the extra $3 for the 800Mhz FSB module which is more compatible when in trim high performance mode.

Windows 7 runs aesthetic valid on this netbook. The starter edition doesn't seem at all tiny to me. I'm able to score around the wallpaper limitation and connect to my home network easily with desktops using Vista. I am honest happy Windows 7 starter's accelerate 3 applications limit wasn't imposed, it would have been the deal breaker. Wikipedia has a list of what isn't available in this edition and to me, it isn't worth spending extra to upgrade to the next edition.

Also Amazon Prime is stout, $3.99 for overnight shipping. Can't beat that.

UPDATE: On this version, you can magnificent easily change the logon wallpaper also. Impartial navigate to C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\BACKGROUNDS and replaced the image with one with the same name, resolution, and no more than 256kb.

After using the netbook a few days, I come by this OS does a apt job on memory usage. My Vista machines are memory hogs and I'm probably going to upgrade those now.

I received the Asus 1005HA gain book 1 week ago. I am completely delighted with it. It is everything it was hyped up to be. After getting rid of the bloatware I installed MS Office, using a exiguous portable external CD/DVD drive. I then upgraded the ram to 2 gigs.

There is an application on the Asus website that allows you to change the wallpaper on Windows7 Starter. It is called System Setting Start-Up that allows you to spend your absorb pictures as wallpaper.
